Middle East

The population and climate of the Middle East have made this area an interesting case study in water research and social work. Containing some of the most densely populated regions, the conflicts within the Middle East often escalate because of ethnic and religious diversity.Utah State University professors are engaged in research that is seeking to diminish these conflicts, solve agricultural and social problems, and engage in international research exchange and collaboration.

As the Middle East continues to play a significant role in U.S. politics and economics, it is important to ensure that a spirit of international collaboration remains in place. The international engineering and social work problems that the Middle East faces are finding solutions as both USU's professors and students collaborate with global colleagues to solve these issues.

For the millions of Palestinians importing their food, Mac McKee and his colleagues are making a real difference. Mac McKee ran water-planning tasks looking at water conservation, new water sources, and the reuse of waste water in Palestine for three years. There he was able to find ways to gain access to vital water.
