South America
Utah State Universities professors are working throughout South America facing many different challenges and dealing with diverse problems. From systems of improving tourism in Costa Rica, to irrigation systems improving farming in the Dominican Republic, dealing with government hostilities and funding challenges, this region of the world is vibrant in more than just culture and heritage.
Boasting the longest river, largest waterfall, longest mountain range, and the largest rainforest, the physical beauty and diversity of South America reflects the beauty and diversity of its inhabitants. Countries in South America range from the poverty of Bolivia, to the rather western-styled Chile. Each country in this region presents its own struggles and problems. Communication working in this region is enhanced by the large number of USU professors and students who speak Spanish and every year both professors and students travel to this area for academic, research, and humanitarian work.
